Welcome to the Investor Confidence Project for San Francisco DOE web page.

The Investor Confidence Project (ICP) is an initiative of the Environmental Defense Fund.  We are excited to partner with San Francisco's Department of the Environment who is recommending that program participants leverage the ICP methodology as a template in order to originate projects more accurately and efficiently.

Through the collaboration of our Ally Network, the Investor Confidence Project is assembling a growing marketplace connecting origination channels and project developers to a wide range of project investors. This growing coalition includes both equity and debt finance companies, building owners and managers, energy service providers, insurers, engineers, utilities, and a range of NGO and public sector organizations.

ICP's Performance Protocols form the core of the ICP methodology and define a clear road-map from retrofit opportunity to investor ready energy efficiency project.  The San Francisco DOE is recommending their use in order to reduce transaction costs, make performance risk manageable to investors, create more confidence in building owners, and maximize the chances that projects will realize their intended goals.

The ICP methodology includes a workflow for project origination that results in Investor Ready projects that can be quickly and easily evaluated and underwritten by the various financial decision makers including building owners, investors, and insurers.  The workflow leverages the three ICP Designated Provider types: Project Developers, Software Providers, and QA Providers.  To find out more about the benefits and requirements of the designations click here.
